The trial of a 22-year-old man who is charged with the murder of a 17-year-old learner from the Great Brak Secondary School, will start in the circuit High Court in Mossel Bay on Monday.
Nathan Mouwers is accused of the abduction, rape and murder of teenager, Lesley-Ann Maya.
Her body was found in reeds in Powertown near Little Brak River on 13 April 2015, five days after she had gone missing.
Police are investigating the possibility that the suspect might be linked with two other murders, involving two 15-year-old learners from the same school.
In October 2014 the 15-year-old Eloise Witbooi went missing and her body was discovered two months later.
Police said at the time that her body was too badly decomposed and therefore it would be impossible to determine the cause of death.A third learner, also from the Great Brak Secondary School went missing two months after Lesley-Ann. The 15-year-old Bonique Jansen was found dead in the same neighbourhood.
Mouwers was arrested in the court holding cells in June last year, where he was applying for bail on another rape charge.
