Two brothers have been handed lengthy jail terms in the Port Alfred Regional Court.
They were sentenced yesterday for attacking a Port Alfred SAPS K9 officer and a security guard who foiled their housebreaking and robbery attempts at the town in 2008.
Forty five year-old Raymond Sias was sentenced to an effective 15 years' in prison and his 43-year-old brother Cedric received 20 years.
They attacked Warrant Officer Charlton Hilpert and a security guard after robbing several homes in Bathurst street.
The brothers stabbed the security guard and tied him to a pole, leaving him for dead.
Later that evening, Warrant Officer Hilpert was stabbed nine times and robbed of his cellphone when he tried to arrest the brothers for being in possession of stolen property.
