Schooling at Moses Mabida High School in Kirkwood ground to a halt on Wednesday following a protest by learners who are demanding the appointment of a permanent school principal.
According to the chairperson of the student representative council, Thembalethu Nyati, there was an acting principal last who were did a sterling job but had not been paid by the Bhisho Department of Education for several months.
Police monitored the protest, which included the burning of tyres, but took no action.
Nyati told Algoa FM News that they will be meeting parents tomorrow to discuss the protest action with them.
"The learners are unsatisfied because there is no permanent principal and we are fighting for that. We have had a principal on contract since 2005 and this is affecting the matric results. Learners will continue their action till there is a response from the department of Education" he said
