Learners drown at East London beach

Police have opened an inquest docket following the drowning of two learners from a primary school in Mthatha while they were swimming at Eastern beach in East London.

Police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi, said that the incident happened just after noon on Friday.

He said according to information, a boy and a girl, aged 13 and 14 respectively, got into difficulty and drowned.

Mbi said their identities would be released once the next of kin have been informed.
