CCTV footage showing how Gqeberha squad member, Dwane Kemp, was shot and wounded, left his widow Candice, emotional at the Port Elizabeth High Court on Thursday.
Candice, who was pregnant during the time of her husband's murder, started sobbing in court when video footage showed how he had been wounded in the crossfire during the Le Bon Bakery.
The video showed that Kemp was shot at, several times, minutes after entering the bakery with his partner, Constable Musa Hans.
After shots were fired by a suspect behind the bakery's counter, Kemp dropped to the floor but managed to crawl out of the shop while returning fire.
Kemp died a few hours later at St George's Hospital.
While still inside the bakery, Hans returned fire, killing four suspects.
The State Alleges that the fifth suspect, Sibusiso Mchunu, managed to escape.
Mchunu is facing 16 charges including five of murder.
He was arrested by the Hawks at his parents’ home in Algoa Park a few days later.
The 25-year-old faces 16 charges, including five of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery and the possession of an unlicensed firearm
Although the four robbers were killed by police gunfire, Mchunu will be charged with their murders.
It is the State's case that Mchunu used his dad's car and firearm during the robbery.
