The trial of a man charged with the 2019 murder of Gqeberha flying squad member, Constable Dwane Kemp is expected to start in the city's High Court on Tuesday.
Thirty-one-year-old Kemp was shot in the hand and twice in the abdomen during an armed robbery at the Le Bon bakery in Rose Street, in Central on the 21st of January 2019.
He died from his injuries in the hospital that afternoon.

During the robbery, Kemp's partner, Constable Musa Hans, returned fire, killing four armed robbers inside the bakery while a fifth managed to escape.
The suspect was 24-years-old at the time of the crime and was arrested by the Hawks at his parent's house in Algoa Park a few days after the robbery.
Three firearms were also recovered at the crime scene.
During earlier court appearances, the magistrate ordered that the suspect cannot yet be named.
He faces charges of robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm and five murder charges which includes the deaths of his accomplices.
During the bail hearing, the court heard that the accused had allegedly used his dad's car and gun in the Le Bon bakery robbery.
The statement from the Investigating Officer revealed that the suspect was linked to the incident after his father reported his firearm missing at the Algoa Park Police station days after the robbery.
The Court also heard that the Volkswagen Jetta which belongs to the suspect's father had a tracker device that showed that it had been parked in Rose Street near the bakery on that day.
Constable Kemp's wife, Candice was pregnant at the time of his murder.
