There is currently a water supply outage in the Bisho CBD, which is caused by the low level of Amatola Bhisho Main Reservoir, which provides bulk water supply to BCMM’s Bisho water tower.
Amatola Water had a pipe burst and pump break down earlier this week, which resulted in no water in Sweetwaters, Golf Course, Bisho and Surrounding areas.
The pipe burst was repaired and completed by Amatola Water at 4am yesterday and water was restored to all areas except Bisho CBD due to height of the buildings, which are at a similar level to the Bisho water tower that supplies water to Bisho CBD.
Bisho water supply system is still filling up and is expected to fully recover tonight when the water demand is reduced. Amatola Water and BCMM teams are onsite to ensure that there are no pipe bursts in the system that prevents the reservoirs from filling up timeously.
BCMM is assisting with water tankers in the areas where it is possible to do so (i.e. schools, hospitals, clinics etc.).
Consumers are requested to keep all water points in the closed position in order to avoid water wastage when the water supply returns, which further elongates the recovery period of the system
