Latest on 'PE restaurant murder 'case

Two Chinese nationals accused of murdering a man in a Port Elizabeth restaurant, are applying for bail in the magistrate's court.

Charges against a third accused were withdrawn.

The two, who have not been identified yet, are charged in connection with the murder of court interpreter, Zhi Duang Huang, in the Jade Gardens Restaurant earlier this month.

Algoa FM's Raahil Sain filed this report.

In a bid for bail a 50-year old accused, who is employed at the Jade Gardens restaurant in Humewood, indicated in his affidavit that the State was not in possession of factual evidence.

Defence advocate, Johan Wessels, further submitted that the state's case was based on mere suspicion.

A 42-year old man, who is part owner of the restaurant, indicated that the charges against him were based on a missing person's report.

Wessels submitted that the accused could not be linked to the disappearance of the missing person.

Police are in possession of a samurai sword, which is alleged to be the murder weapon.

Meanwhile, police investigators are still awaiting the findings of a post mortem conducted on a decomposed and headless body found along the N-2 near Bluewater Bay.
