Over 94% of votes have been counted in South Africa's fifth democratic election.
The African National Congress has 62.55 percent of the vote after reaching 10.3 million votes, while the Democratic Alliance has
22.03% with 3.5 million votes.
The early results indicate that Julius Malema's Economic Freedom Fighters are in third place with just under a million votes, or 5.95% of the poll.
In the Eastern Cape, the ANC has captured 70.06% of the vote followed in a distant second by the DA with 16.3 %.
Meanwhile the final results for the Nelson Mandela Metro are in with the ANC capturing 48.93% of the vote to the DA's 40.68%.
DA Deputy Provincial Leader Bobby Stevenson says they're very excited at the result as they're up from 28% in 2009.
He told AlgoaFM news that the DA was bullish about winning 2016's municipal elections in the Metro as they now have a strong platform to work on.
Its the first time that the ANC has dipped under 50% of the vote in Nelson Mandela Bay.
