Large parts of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro are still without water following several pipe bursts over the weekend.
Although the water supply has returned to some areas in the Western parts of the city, the metro is currently working on getting the Nooitgedacht-scheme back into operation.
The Municipality's Senior Director for Water and Sanitation, Barry Martin said maintenance is being done at a slow and extended period to avoid secondary bursts.
"The main priority is to restore the feed at Nooitgedacht to bring that full 200 Megalitres per day back into the system.
"There are about 75km of bulk pipelines that are empty. This must first be filled up before the pressure will get in the reticulation system."
Martin added that the water supply should be restored by Thursday.
