Kouga executive mayor Booi Koerat and his management team met residents from Oceanview today following a protest on Tuesday morning.
Residents grievances were multifold, ranging from high crime rates in the area to a lack of roads and other infrastructure.
Kouga Municipal Manager, Sidney Fadi, told Algoa FM News that they will be relocating half of the community to a new area where sites will be identified for qualifying people.
"As a transitional manner we have taken a decision that we will take halve of the community to an area where there are roads, streetlights and water"
Fadi says the process will get underway on Wednesday as officials are now busy drawing up a relocation plan.
At 3pm today they will meet with the community to explain to them how the process will role out. People will be pre-screened via the human settlement criteria
