The Kouga Municipality says the fires in the St Francis Bay area are under control for the first time since they started on the 23rd of January.
However, spokesperson, Mfundo Sobele, says fire-fighters focused on several hot-spots on Monday morning, particularly on the far western side of Rebelsrus.
He says helicopters, including an SANDF chopper, successfully water-bombed the area.
Sobele says while things are under control they are ready for any eventuality.
"We still have choppers on standby in case of the unknown. Fire is unpredictable. So we are not totally out of the woods yet"
Sobele also appealed to residents to cut back vegetation around their properties.
He says in the Cape St Francis area there's a lot of vegetation up against the walls of houses and are they are requested to cut vegetation as this could assist fire-fighters in case of a break-out.
"We would like to urge farmers in the area to start creating good fire breaks on their properties to prevent a quick spread of fire during times of emergency"
The situation remains monitored.
