Cash strapped EP Rugby Pty Ltd appears to have failed to meet a deadline of midnight Sunday night to pay R12 million in damages and arrears to a group of 18 former EP Kings rugby players owed months in outstanding wages.
An arbitration agreement was signed on Friday the 22nd of January between the players and EP Rugby and retired judge Frank Kroon, as arbitrator made the agreement an arbitration award.
The players lawyer, Craig Jessop, told AlgoaFM News he'll now be meeting with the group of players this evening to discuss their options.
"As things stand I still don't have independent confirmation that those monies had been paid over into EP Rugby's account. As a consequence thereof myself and the players, together with senior council will review whether or not we will join the liquidation procedures tomorrow or whether we are going to oppose. All indications at this stage is that history taught us that suggestions of payment will not be maid and that we will have to continue with the liquidation process" he said
