Kouga Municipality says an excavator will be used on Sunday to create a firebreak on the western edge of St Francis Bay.
Spokesperson, Laura Leigh Randall says by 7 pm on Saturday, a veldfire remained contained and there were no active and uncontrolled fires threatening any homes.
She says overnight rain on Friday helped efforts to contain the fire which broke out on Eskom land west of St Francis Links on Thursday.
Randall says the Kouga Fire Department remains on duty and will closely monitor homes on the eastern side of the affected area.
