Police in Knysna arrested a 20-year-old woman for allegedly kidnapping her friend's baby over the weekend.
Spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, said it is alleged that the suspect, who is a friend of the child’s mother, visited her at her home in Concordia on Saturday afternoon.
He said the young woman took the three-month-old baby “under false pretenses and disappeared.”
“The investigation took the police to Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay where the woman and the toddler were found at a Church on Sunday,” Spies said.
The woman was arrested by members of the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit and Knysna Detectives on a charge of kidnapping.
Spies said she would appear in court soon.
