Knysna police arrest five suspected business robbers

File

Five suspects have been arrested following a business robbery in Nelson Street in Knysna.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the robbery took place on Tuesday when the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash.

He says members from the Knysna Crime Prevention Unit, Knysna detectives, the Tsitsikamma K9 unit, and a local security company found what is believed to be the getaway vehicle, a VW Jetta in Concordia in Knysna.

Police then proceeded to a liquor outlet in the area and arrested two suspects after an unknown amount of cash was found in their possession.

Spies says upon further investigation, police traveled to Worcester where two more suspects were tracked down on Wednesday and another was arrested in Knysna on Thursday.

Two of the suspects, aged 28 and 30, made their first court appearance in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The case has been postponed until 21 June for a formal bail application.

The remaining three suspects, aged between 37 and 45, are still in police custody and will appear in court once they have been charged.
