The Knysna community again took its anger to the streets and barricaded the N2 between Plettenberg Bay and George near Nekkies, with burning tyres on Friday.
Knysna Mayor, Mark Willemse said although there was political dissatisfaction in the town's Ward 3, the municipality had not received any definitive demands.
"We have addressed the community on numerous occasions to find out their demands, but there is a faction of the community that is unhappy with its own political situation in that ward and this is playing out to the larger community at this stage."
On Thursday, 42 people were arrested in the area for public violence during a protest which erupted outside the court building where the murder trial of ANC councillor and chief whip, Victor Molosi was set to start.
Willemse said the ongoing protest had criminal elements at play as the protesters looted nearby shops.
"We have been addressing some of their concerns through municipal systems but there seems to be a criminal element as they have taken matters into their own hands."
The N2 in Nekkies was re-opened shortly after lunch on Friday but motorists are urged to be vigilant and keep their doors locked and windows rolled up.
