A 58 year old Knysna broker has been jailed for 10 years for fraud.
Michael Toerien was convicted and sentenced in the George regional court on Thursday..
He was found guilty on 24 charges of fraud involving more than R11m.
The charges stem from investments that many retired Knysna residents, including businesspeople made with his company, Michael Toerien Brokers.
The head of the George Hawks unit, Lieutenant-Colonel Sweigelaar, has expressed his satisfaction with the finalising of the case and commended the investigating officer for a job well done.
