Knysna beaches have been closed since Tuesday, following increased shark activity in the area.
The Knysna municipality issued a statement in which swimmers are warned not to enter the water, after sharks were spotted from Brenton-on-Sea up to Myoli Beach in Sedgefield.
According to the statement, all swimming areas remain closed until further notice.
The sharks were spotted close to the swimming areas and authorities are monitoring the situation.
According to the Knysna Fire Department, a meeting will be held in the afternoon where after the situation will be assessed.
