Six Kirkwood residents charged in connection with last month's violent protests in Kirkwood, have been released on bail.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart says they appeared in court in the town today where the case was postponed to the 15th of December for further investigation.
Defense lawyer Alwyn Griebenouw says the six were released on bail of R1000 each.
He says Kirkwood business owners posted bail for the six, who face charges of public violence.
Meanwhile, Kirkwood Chamber chairperson Flippie Ehlers said on Thursday that local business, in a show of solidarity, stand by the residents in their campaign for better service delivery on the part of the Sunday's River Valley Municipality.
However, he said they do not condone the violent nature of the protests, that had led to several municipal and historic buildings being torched.
