Kirkwood police search for gang who shot and robbed a local businessman

Kirkwood police are on the hunt for three alleged armed robbers who robbed and shot a local businessman on Friday morning.

Police spokesperson, liuetnant-colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the businessman was returning from the bank when he was accosted by two men in the driveway of his business in Sonop Street.

She says he was shot in the hand and wrist as the gunmen grabbed a bag of money in his vehicle.

Naidu says they fled in a get-away car.

The businessman has been admitted to the Cuyler hospital in Uitenhage.

Anyone who may have information that can assist the police should contact Uitenhage detectives.
