Kirkwood man arrested for murdering foreign national

Kirkwood police have arrested a 45-year-old man for the murder of a Malawian national.

Uitenhage police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli says it is alleged that a man was sleeping in his house in the early hours of Friday morning, when the Malawian forced open a window and gained entry.

He says it is believed that a violent scuffle broke out between the two, and the 43-year old intruder sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Nkohli says the 45-year-old suspect was arrested and is due to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate's Court on Monday on a murder charge.
