Port St Johns police are investigating a case of murder, hijacking and kidnapping following the death of Reverend Mzuhleli Mongo.
Police Captain Mduduzi Godlwana, says the reverend was travelling to Flagstaff with a 19 year old girl on Monday when they were accosted by two unknown suspects.
Gondlwana says three shots were fired at Mongo and his body thrown over a bridge.
He says the girl managed to escape.
Godlwana says the suspects fled in Mongo's white Polo Vivo.
