One person was killed and nine others injured when their houses collapsed due to heavy winds in the Queenstown area on Thursday.
Eastern Cape health department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo says the injured were taken to Frontier Hospital.
He said one of the injured will be transferred to Frere hospital in East London due to severe injuries.
Earlier, heavy winds blew off the roofs of the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha, Glen Grey Hospital in Lady Frere and Cofimvaba Hospital.
A team of building experts has been sent to assess the damage. Kupelo said no injuries were reported and all the patients were safe.
Kupelo said Eastern Cape health MEC Sicelo Qgobana would visit the hospitals on Friday.
Meanwhile: Police spokesperson Mzukisi Fatyela says a wall of the Mthatha Plaza collapsed and the roof was ripped off.
The wall fell on three cars but no-one was injured.
He said six people were injured by high winds in Zimbane Village in Mthatha.
