A day before schools re-open, six learners from schools in Alexandria in the Eastern Cape are due to appear in court for vandalism.
They were part of a group of up to 22 children who police say vandalised the Alexandria High School last week.
Police said at the time that the children, aged between 11 and 12, trashed every classroom, broke windows and doors to gain access and defecated on the floor of the school hall.
They also allegedly stole stationery and toys while also taking time out to help themselves to tea and coffee.
The children face charges of house-breaking and theft.
