Kessie Nair will see the new year in as a free man. The 60-year-old has been granted bail. The Hawks arrested Nair in September and charged him with crimen injuria as well as contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act for calling President Cyril Ramaphosa the K-world in a Facebook video that went viral.
A Verulam magistrate initially refused Nair bail but he appealed her ruling in the Durban High Court, where it was last week set aside.
Nair's lawyer Chris Gounden says his client was released on bail of R2 500 with certain bail conditions attached.
The case has been postponed until 2019
