Sanparks has expressed relief following the recapturing of a 3-year old Lion that escaped from the Karoo National Park more than three weeks ago.
The lion, nick-named Sylvester, reportedly killed 26 sheep and a kudu since its escape.
Sanparks' general manager for media relations, Ray Thakuli.
"We can confirm the lion has been re-captured Monday afternoon. It was spotted about 20km away from the park and then moved between the boundaries of the Northern and Western Cape. Just after 5pm we got a helicopter and the lion was darted by our vet. He was released into a boma last night and will be kept there for observation. We are happy to have him back after 3 weeks" he said
