Police in Nelson Mandela Bay are searching for two suspects following a house robbery in Kariega on Friday evening during which seven firearms were stolen.
Colonel Pricilla Naidu says the men, one of them armed, entered a house in Leisching Street and threatened the owner with a firearm.
She says the 42-year old homeowner was instructed to open the safe, and the suspects took a rifle, a shotgun, a pistol, and four pellet guns, as well as 10 cellphones and cash.
The man, his wife, and their three children were tied up and the suspects fled in the complainant’s Ford Ranger bakkie.
Colonel Naidu says within minutes after the robbery, members of the K9 Unit found the vehicle abandoned in Kamesh.
She says all seven stolen firearms were recovered behind a shack close to the abandoned vehicle.
