Kariega cops in custody accused of sodomising a man with a sharp object

Two police officers attached to the Kamesh police station in Kariega will spend the weekend behind bars following their arrest on charges of assault and rape.

The 41-year-old Constable and 42-year-old Sergeant from Kamesh Visible Policing appeared briefly in the Kariega Magistrates Court on Friday.

The matter was postponed to Monday when formal bail proceedings are set to get underway.

The two officers allegedly assaulted a 37-year-old man before sodomising him with a sharp object.

The suspects were initially charged with sexual assault but it has since been changed to rape.
