A family from Kabega Park in the Western suburbs of Gqeberha has become the latest victim of a home invasion.

Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 44-year-old complainant was leaving his house in Van der Graaf Street at 6.30 am on Tuesday when three suspects confronted him as he exited the back door.

She says one of the robbers had a firearm and forced the complainant back into the house where they proceeded to the main bedroom.

The suspects tied up the man and his 53-year-old wife and ordered their 17-year-old son to open the safe.

Captain Janse van Rensburg says the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery and cell phones before fleeing in the couple's vehicle

The stolen car was recovered by Atlas Security just 250 meters away in Woltemade street.

There have been a string of home invasions in the city in recent months where residents are terrorized, tied up and their homes ransacked.
