Two suspects are expected to appear in the Aliwal North Magistrates court on Tuesday, following one of the biggest drug busts in town this year.
Police Spokesperson Captain Ursula Roelofse says the suspects aged 20 and 37 were travelling in a white Ford Kuga and entered the Eastern Cape by crossing the bridge into town from the Free State.
Police received information about the vehicle and set up a joint task team who stopped the car in Barkly Street.
The K9 unit then found plastic bags with mandrax, hidden under the driver's seat.
Roelofse says they confiscated 1 536 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R153 600.00 making it the biggest bust in town this year.
The Deputy cluster Commander Colonel Mpho Rabela welcomed the arrest of the "notorious" drug dealers.
The K9 unit in Aliwal North, meanwhile, made another arrest in the Maletswai informal settlement.
Roelofse says a 40-year-old man was arrested and 186 mandrax tablets and 13 parcels of tik worth almost R18 000 were confiscated.
He is also expected to appear in the local Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
