Gqeberha's beloved K9 officer Max apprehended a 20-year-old suspect who was busy removing electric cables from a trench leading to the David Stuurman Airport.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says on Thursday afternoon, K9 members received information about a suspect busy stealing cables and they immediately launched into action.
She says when the suspect saw the police he started running, ignoring warnings from police.
Max was released and swiftly apprehended the suspect.
Police confiscated a spade, pickaxe, hammer and a black bag with copper wire and electrical boxes.
The suspect's alleged actions caused damage to the power supply at the Airport.
He is being detained on a charge relating to the Criminal Matters Amendment Act of damaging infrastructure.
