The Judicial Officers Association of South Africa says it has been invited to a meeting to discuss salary and related issues which has led to its members embarking on protest action.
The month long protest action has seen magistrates across South Africa only attending to urgent matters.
East London-based Joasa president, Nazeem Joemath, says the magistrate's protest is about much more than just salaries and benefits.
"We have had some interaction from the IRC independent remuneration commission who is busy setting up a meeting so that we can talk about the remuneration of the magistrates and the way forward. That has been positive, as far as the Minister of Justice is concerned we have not heard anything" he said
