A 52 year old Joubertina man will appear in court on Monday for attempted rape.
Police spokesperson, Lt-Col Pricilla Naidu says a 14-year old teenager and her friend were standing at a popular hitchhiking spot for a lift to Kareedouw on Saturday afternoon, when the man approached them.
She says the man offered them a lift when his employer came to pick him up.
Naidu says the man allegedly told the teenager's friend to leave, as she was safe with him. While they were alone, the man lured the girl into nearby bushes under a bridge, and undressed her.
She says a pedestrian witnessed the incident and contacted the police.
The man was arrested shortly afterwards.
