Jordaan's lawyers say they're unable to trace Ferguson rape docket

Football boss Danny Jordaan lawyers said that they have been unable to determine the whereabouts of the docket almost a month after musician Jennifer Ferguson said that she had laid rape charges against him.

In a statement on Tuesday via his attorney's, Jordaan's lawyers, Mohlala Attorneys Inc. said that despite "numerous attempts to contact authorities, including two letters directed to the South African Police Service we have been unable to determine any information on the whereabouts of the docket."

"The lack of information is damaging to our client," they said in a statement.

"As Dr Jordaan's attorneys, we have attempted to engage the SAPS and the investigating officer in the matter and will soon contact the National Prosecuting Authority in an attempt to have the matter dealt with as soon as reasonably possible".

"We reiterate that Ms Ferguson's allegations are absolutely unfounded and untrue and that her true motives are deeply suspect," Jordaan's lawyers said.

The former ANC MP said last month that she decided to lay rape charges against Jordaan to encourage other victims of sexual abuse to speak out and act.

Ferguson reportedly opened the case in Parkview in Johannesburg and this was expected to be transferred to Port Elizabeth where the alleged incident happened in a hotel room 24 years ago.
