Police divers scoured the Port Elizabeth harbour on Tuesday in search of missing Gabonese triathlete, David Bellet-Brissaud.
This, after CCTV footage in the harbour showed Bellet-Brissaud entering the harbour precinct after 1 am on Friday morning.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that the footage also showed the triathlete hopping from one chokka boat to another before vanishing.
"When he got to the middle boat he never came out. Footage also showed that he did not get out of the boat," she said.
Naidoo said that police divers, K9 unit members and a police helicopter were called in to search the area. "Unfortunately, we could not find him. The search has been called off and tomorrow (Wednesday) we will resume the search," she said.
The 48-year-old athlete was reported missing on Friday morning, barely a day after he and his wife Jessica arrived in Nelson Mandela Bay for the Standard Bank Ironman Africa Championshp.
His brother and sister yesterday offered a reward of 12 - thousand rand for information on his whereabouts that would lead to him being found.
Naidu, says Bellet-Brissaud's family had been briefed on the latest developments.
