A jobless Eastern Cape woman has won a new car after sending 19-thousand text messages -- at a combined cost of R28 000 in a competition.
Nomandiyephi Botha, from Lady Frere, said yesterday that she sent SMS's during the day and another 300 at night over a period of time.
She won a car valued at R130 000 in a competition organised by the SA Traditional Music Achievement Awards which were held in East London earlier this month.
The 33-year-old said she used R11 000 she had received from a stokvel, while her husband, sister, and brother also chipped in by getting her more airtime.
