The Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Monday to announce his first ever citizens arrest.
This follows after he spotted a vendor who pushed the carcass of a chopped up cow in a trolley.
Mashaba expressed his concern about the possible spread of diseases since the meat was not covered up, making it a health risk.
Members of the Johannesburg Metro police came to assist Mashaba in making the arrest.
According to the JMPD, the vendor was also an undocumented person who will now be charged.
Some people on Twitter were not exactly pleased with Mashaba's citizen's arrest and accused him of being "anti-black business".
Mashaba, however, stuck to his guns and reiterated the dangers of a potential health risk or outbreak of diseases.
