Jbay police welcomes heavy sentences imposed on two suspects

Jeffreys Bay police have welcomed the heavy sentences imposed on suspects in two seperate cases.

Police spokesperson, warrant officer Marianette Olivier, says 27 year old Lusanda Bheju was jailed for life raping a 13 year old girl last May.

He was sentenced to a further 20 years for assault and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Olivier police also welcomed the jailing of two men for the murder of 49 year old Deon Verwey who was stabbed to death in his home in 2009.

She says police believe that convictions and sentences like these restore public faith in the police while also boosting police morale.
