Police in Jeffreys Bay are warning motorists to refrain from assisting people in dark and deserted areas.
This warning follows an incident where a woman in her 70's and a 31-year-old man travelling towards Aston Bay were robbed when they stopped to help a man pretending to be injured on the side of the road.
Captain Gerda Swart says the suspect jumped up and a second suspect joined him and threatened the two with a panga.
The suspects fled the scene with the lady's handbag containing an undisclosed amount of cash.Swart says motorists should rather call the SAPS crime line if they drive past a possibly injured person.
