Former Standard Bank employee in court for allegedly stealing inheritance money


A former employee of Standard Bank in Pickering Street in Port Elizabeth is due to appear in the city commercial crimes court on Wednesday in connection with the theft of an inheritance.

The accused, Sibongile Nkosana, and several co-accused - has been set down on the court roll for Wednesday. According to the charge sheet, Nkosana, misappropriated R2.4 million from the estate of a deceased woman and placed the money in several accounts belonging to the co-accused.

Olive Knobel passed away in 2014 and had ten accounts at Standard Bank. Nkosana allegedly forged several documents to steal all the money withing weeks after Knobel's death. When her three children arrived at the bank to make enquiries about their inheritance, they were told that it was all gone.

Also due to appear in the commercial crimes court is Petrus Meyer, the SARS official who is the co-accused of convicted fraudster and PE businessman Arthur Webb. Meyer is expected to enter a plea on fraud and corruption charges.
