The Kouga Municipality says Monday night's power outage in the town was a result of a break in the main feeder line.
Algoa FM has been receiving calls from concerned locals about breaks in the power supply to the holiday town.
Kouga Municipality spokesperson, Laura-Leigh Randall, says Monday's problem was a municipal issue.
She also clarified that an earlier power outage had been related to an Eskom problem.
Randall says the outages are also linked to the huge influx of holidaymakers with the sharp increase in consumption exposing weaknesses in the line.
She's appealed to residents and holidaymakers to use electricity sparingly.
"We would like to give people the assurance that the municipality learnt from last year's experience and additional measures have been put in place to improve the response time to problems on the main line. These measures are that each electrical staffer already knows exactly what his role is if there's a break on the main line, we have extra equipment and all the paperwork is in place to avoid procurement delays should we need to hire specialised equipment" she said
