The Eastern Cape department of education says its all systems go for schools re-opening on Wednesday.
The department says teaching and learning is expected to start on the first hour of the first day, as all material had been delivered to schools last November last year.
Meanwhile, senior government officials led by president Jacob Zuma and Education minister Angie Motshekga are expected to arrive on Monday to oversee the smooth sailing of entry into the new term and open newly built schools.
The president will open the Ngidini Primary School in Libode and the Nelson Mandela School of Science and Technology in Mvezo.
The president and minister will also meet with the provincial education stakeholders to seek solutions for the low matric pass rate.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape Education MEC, Mandla Makupula, will visit Dlulisa Senior Secondary school in Butterworth on Wednesday morning as part of the department's Back to School Campaign.
Provincial cabinet colleague, Helen Sauls August, will also visit several schools on Wednesday to assess their readiness for the new school year.
She'll visit Breidbach High School and Forbes Grant High School on Wednesday morning and Hlumani High School in Komga, on Thursday,
