Is Omotoso preaching from PE prison?

The Department of Correctional Services says the probe into claims that controversial Nigerian pastor, Timothy Omotoso, was preaching to congregants from his Port Elizabeth jail cell, is still continuing.

This followed a City Press report on Sunday claiming that Omotoso was using a cell phone to make conference calls to his followers.

The newspaper also claimed that he had been receiving special privileges over the past two years.

The controversial pastor's trial started in 2018 but has been delayed to due to several appeals.

The Department's Acting Regional Commissioner, Noziphiwo Dumbela, confirmed that they were aware of the allegations.

However, she could not tell Algoa FM News when their internal probe would be completed.

She says they cannot give a possible outcome until the investigation has been completed.

The trial of Omotoso and his two co-accused, Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho is expected to resume next month.

The trio faces 63 charges and 34 alternative charges, including rape, sexual assault and racketeering.
