Parts of Fort Beaufort will be without water for several days following a break-down at the diversion dam which supplies Burls Dam and the town.
The Amathole District Municipality says the problem was fixed on Sunday with water supply restored to low-lying areas of Fort Beaufort.
But, according to ADM's Noni Vuso, it will take a few more days to restore full water supply to the high-lying parts of the town.
Vuso says water tankers will be available between 6 am and 6 pm in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Vuso says the District Municipality met with key stakeholders last week to find lasting solutions to the water issues affecting many towns in the District.
The Department of Water and Sanitation and the Amathole Water Board attended the meeting.
Vuso says the Board is also facilitating the construction of two water reservoirs and a new pipeline in the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality which is estimated to be completed in December this year.
The Municipality covers towns that include Alice, Bedford, Fort Beaufort, Hogsback, Middledrift and Seymore.
Vuso says some of their challenges include the drought and ageing infrastructure.
