Eastern Cape police commissioner, Lieutenant-General, Liziwe Ntshinga, has promised full support into the investigation of the murder of champion boxer, Leighandre “Baby Lee” Jegels.
She was reportedly shot dead by her policeman boyfriend, who also shot and wounded her mother following an incident in East London on Friday afternoon.
The Daily Dispatch reported that the 37-year-old officer was arrested in the Peddie area following an accident in which another person died.
In a statement, Lieutenant-General Ntshinga said that after learning about the incident with “shock” the matter was immediately referred to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for a further investigation.
She said her Department will provide the necessary support and cooperation to the IPID investigation.
