Two Eastern Cape men have been granted bail in a Kwazulu Natal court after being bust with a large quantity of dagga at Scottburgh this week.
The spokesperson for the Hawks in KZN, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, said Nthando Ndoyokwe (32), and Thando Mbele (31), from Lusikisiki, appeared in court on Thursday where they were granted bail of R3000 each.
"Hawks members from Port Shepstone's Serious Organised Crime unit received information about two vehicles that were reportedly transporting a significant amount of dagga from the Eastern Cape to KwaZulu-Natal," he said.
"An operation was swiftly conducted which included the Flying Squad and K9 unit and both vehicles were spotted and intercepted. The resultant search uncovered 77 bags of dagga weighing 308.kg with an estimated street value of approximately R 771 000."
Mhlongo said the case against Ndoyokwe and Mbele was postponed to 27 September.
