Detectives of the Organised Crime Unit in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of murder, following the death of ANC Councilor Buyisile Mkavo in Kwanobuhle near Uitenhage on Saturday evening.
Police spokesperson, WO Basil Seekoei says it is alleged that the suspect approached Mkavo's vehicle from the left passenger side and shot him through the open front window.
He says the 40-year old was hit in the upper body, and he died at the scene.
Seekoei says the motive for the killing is not known.
