Southern Cape police have opened an inquest docket, following the drowning of a 26 year old man in a dam in Great Brak River at the weekend.
Spokesperson, Seargent Chantel Marais, says the deceased and a family member allegedly paddled together on a dam in Leeukloof on Sunday.
She says the deceased’s cousin went to a house for lunch, after which the man continued to paddle ski on his own.
His cousin told police members that he heard a flounder after which the man disappeared under the water.
A Police Diving Unit from George was called to the scene, and the body was recovered.
