Port Elizabeth police have advised motorists to avoid Victoria Drive where striking municipal workers have thrown rubbish into the road.
Police spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, say the area affected is between Buffelsfontein Road and Sardinia Bay Road.
Its believed that the actions are linked to the illegal strike by employees in the Municipality's waste management services.
They downed tools on Tuesday in an apparent dispute over pay.
The Municipality has urged residents not to take out their refuse for now, or to take it to the nearest landfill site.
